Meet the Artist
Updated: Oct 9
Digital painting done in Photoshop CC.
Hello and welcome to my blog, Zesty Creatives! A place to log my journey as I step into the real world as a freelance illustrator. I want to create a place to hold myself accountable for making art and challenging myself to try new things as well as giving art tips and tricks that may help artists who are just starting out as well!
In this blog I will be sharing my art projects, step-by-step processes, references, art journaling, tips and tricks, and anything else that comes up in my artistic journey twice a week! I love working with paints and colored pencils and just stepped into the digital painting world. I plan to explore these mediums and more with y’all!
A bit about me (other than my about me page):
I currently reside in the sunny state of Colorado near the bustling city of Denver. The weather here is unpredictable but leaves us on our toes. These wild changes are actually quite useful as they change the mood of the day and sometimes spur fresh ideas to make new and unique art. Literally as I am typing this, it is late May and apparently its snowing outside? I’m a native and I still don’t get it.
I enjoy going on adventures—hiking, driving, midnight fast-food stops, taking photos at night, etc. My favorite thing is probably waking up at 8 in the morning for a cup of coffee and watching Brunch @ Bobby’s. That or having a solid homemade dinner and a bottle of beer. I also really enjoy music and making live mixes with my brother. Music has been a huge inspiration for many of my pieces, I’ll write more on that later on!
I only have two online summer classes left before I graduate with my degree in illustration and am thrilled to start my freelance journey. I began my college career as a Health and Nutrition Science major but decided about a year in that art was my true passion. I still have a major love for the field of health and wellness and strive to create a positive lifestyle for myself and others. I’ve been brainstorming ways to combine the two in a way that is beneficial to others and will continue to do so!
Enough about me! I’m eager to connect with others with a passion to create and inspire those who are unsure of their creativity.
Thanks for stopping by!
